Destination Therapy for End-Stage Heart Failure

The University of Wisconsin now offers HeartMate® Destination Therapy (DT) to treat patients who suffer from end-stage heart failure (ESHF), and who do not qualify for heart transplantation. index_image

Destination Therapy involves implanting the HeartMate® XVE Left Ventricular Assist System (LVAS). The HeartMate XVE LVAS is the only device currently approved by the FDA as a long-term, permanent implant.

We are one of only two centers in Wisconsin, and one of a handful in the nation, with approval to implant this device as an alternative to transplantation. This further emphasizes our dedication to providing the most advanced treatment options for patients in Wisconsin and the Midwest.
