Application Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in a University of Wisconsin cardiothoracic surgery residency. The cardiothoracic residency program at UW is a two-year program involving rotations at the UW and VA Hospitals. A basic research year is available on an elective basis and would involve an additional year of training. We are currently accepting applications for our cardiothoracic training program starting July 2010.

Meyer - chopraThe Thoracic Surgery Directors Association has developed a Universal Thoracic Surgery Residency Application which candidates will be able to use for every program to which they apply. We recommend that you call the NRMP office at (202) 862-6077 for registration information regarding the Match. The universal application is available through the NRMP office and you will receive it when you request your application for the Match.

March 1, 2010 is the deadline to register for the Match through the NRMP and ERAS.

Interview dates will be the afternoon of Friday, February 12, 2010 OR the morning of Saturday, February 13, 2010, with the option of a make up date on Friday, March 19, 2010. Friday interviews are held from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm and Saturday interviews are held from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

All application files will be reviewed by our selection committee. We will inform you by email of their decision regarding an interview. Formal interviews at the University of Wisconsin will be conducted during the months of February and March. If you should move, it is important that you send us written notice of your change of address and telephone number.
