Rank will depend on candidate’s interest and academic credentials. Appointment as associate professor or full professor will require that candidate’s credentials meet criteria for tenure appointment at the University of Wisconsin- Madison.
The Department of Surgery is seeking a tenure track (or tenured) faculty member to join an established health services research program within the Wisconsin Surgical Outcomes Research Program (WiSOR).
The incumbent will be expected to have a strong research profile with funded research or demonstrated ability to acquire funded research. The ideal candidate will have experience in health services or outcomes research including administrative and other large database analyses, population studies, methods and policy related to quality measurement and improvement, cost and decision analysis, health-related quality of life and/or patient-centered outcomes. Ideally, the incumbent will have a focus on surgical disease process. The incumbent will also participate in opportunities for committee service at the department, school, and institution levels as well as serve as a mentor for junior faculty with health services research interests. Additional teaching and mentoring responsibilities will include educating fellows, residents, and medical students on surgical outcomes research.
The incumbent would join a thriving multidisciplinary department and a rapidly growing surgical outcomes research center. Opportunities exist for an affiliate appointment with collaborating departments. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to join the broader community of researchers in the health and related sciences across the University. The successful candidate will also participate in professional, public, and university service appropriate to the rank.
