Graduate of certified residency program in thoracic surgery. Training and expertise in lung cancer surgery preferred. Appointment as associate professor (CHS) or full professor (CHS) will require that candidate’s credentials meet criteria for rank established by UW School of Medicine and Public Health Guidelines.

Principal duties:

The incumbent will be expected to play a dynamic role in the expansion of the Thoracic program. The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery is seeking an exceptional board eligible or certified thoracic surgeon to join a dynamic and growing division.The successful candidate will have a strong focus on a clinical practice in thoracic surgery including delivering high-quality patient care. Incumbent will receive support from the department’s robust infrastructure of services including administrative support, accounting and finances, human resources, research administration, laboratory resources, etc. This surgeon will be expected to play an active role in the training and education of medical students, residents, and fellows as well as participate in the department’s clinical research program. In addition, the incumbent will have the opportunity to instruct within a two year fellowship following a General Surgery Residency in which residents become CT surgeons. This position is expected to work with colleagues in the Department of Surgery and throughout the Medical School and University to develop productive research relationships which result in national presentations and publications.

The successful candidate will also participate in professional, public, and university service.
