MD specializing in general surgery, fellowship trained in surgical oncology or hepatobiliary-pancreas surgery.
Board eligible or board certified in general surgery with additional training in surgical oncology or hepatobiliary-pancreas surgery. Appointment as associate professor (CHS) or full professor (CHS) will require that candidate’s credentials meet criteria for rank established by UW School of Medicine and Public Health Guidelines.
The Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is recruiting an experienced academic surgeon to serve as surgical director of the UW Health Liver and Pancreas Center. The selected candidate will have significant experience in the latest and minimally invasive surgical treatments for patients with benign and malignant liver and pancreas disease. The ideal candidate will also have experience in a leadership role and a well-established reputation as an academic surgical oncologist. The incumbent will be required to implement, in collaboration with both the Liver and Pancreas Center Medical Director and Administrative Manager, a comprehensive business plan with the goal of increasing the population of patients with liver and pancreas disease cared for by UW Health. Participation in the training of general surgery residents, medical students, interns, and transplant fellows is expected. The incumbent will also be expected to participate in professional, public, and university service.
This position will involve outreach to hospitals and physician groups to develop clinical partnerships and describe the services offered at the Liver and Pancreas Center, in addition to clinical service at University Hospital and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Madison. The incumbent will also be expected to develop a program in liver and/or pancreas research. The incumbent will be provided a research startup package in accordance with his or her level of engagement and experience.
