Dr. Charles Heise is a Professor of Surgery and the Fellowship Director of Colorectal Surgery. He is also the Director of Surgical Operations at the University Hospital. He completed his fellowship in colorectal surgery at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Heise has been with the University of Wisconsin since the beginning of his career, in 2002.

Dr. Eugene “Chip” Foley is a Professor of Surgery, and Program Director of the General Surgery Residency. He is also the Vice Chairman of General Surgery, and the Co-Director of the Digestive Health Center at the University of Wisconsin. He joined the faculty in 2007, after his 14 years at the University of Virginia. Dr. Foley is skilled in all of the facets of Colon and Rectal Surgery, including colonoscopy.

Dr. Bruce Harms is a Professor of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin and has been part of the department since 1984. Since then, he has had a part in many leadership roles in the hospital, including being the founding member of the Colon and Rectal Surgery team here at UW. Dr. Harms received his colorectal surgery training at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, England. Dr. Harms has been an active attending surgeon at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital since 1984.

Dr. Evie Carchman is an Assistant Professor, who joined the Department of Surgery, at UW in 2014. She completed her Colon and Rectal Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic and her expertise is complex minimally invasive colorectal surgery. Her principal research interests are preventing and improving response to treatment in anal cancer patients, which she examines in her basic science laboratory.

Dr. Elise Lawson is an Assistant Professor of Surgery and an Investigator in the Wisconsin Surgical Outcomes Research Program (WiSOR). She joined the faculty at UW in 2016 after completing Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center. She practices the breadth of Colon and Rectal Surgery, including minimally invasive techniques and colonoscopy. Her research focuses on measuring and improving the quality of surgical care.
