Message From the Director

The Surgery Summer Clinical Research Experience for High School Students. Our program is designed to expose minority high school students to the fundamentals of performing clinical research and integrating research into medical careers. We believe that the opportunities provided to students will play an important role in their future academic choices as they investigate healthcare-related fields.

Students will actively engage in clinical research by working on existing projects led by surgeon and medical student mentors. They will gain exposure to a wide variety of research and surgery-related careers, and also be given opportunities to practice simulated surgery skills and to view procedures. The program challenges students in an environment where surgeons are actively integrating research into their clinical practices to improve the quality of patient care. If you are a student with interests in a healthcare career, we encourage you to consider our program.
