In collaboration with the American College of Surgeons’ Division of Education, the University of Wisconsin Department of Surgery is offering a two-year education research fellowship for residents. The goal of the fellowship is to provide surgical residents with the knowledge, skills and hands-on experience required to become nationally recognized leaders in the field of surgical education.
The fellowship award provides two years of funding from the University of Wisconsin Department of Surgery for surgical residents seeking dedicated time in the lab after their second or third year of residency.
Our current fellow for 2017-2019 is Martha Godfrey.

Research Topic Areas
Selection of specific areas of research investigation will be based largely on individual fellow interest and guided by expert faculty mentorship from the ACS Division of Education and the UW Department of Surgery.
Co-Directors Carla M. Pugh, MD, PhD, FACS and Ajit K. Sachdeva, MD, FACS, FRCSC will provide program oversight.

Interested applicants must be in good standing in an accredited residency program.
Fellowship acceptance requires a commitment from the applicant institution for continuation of the academic position.
Education Research Fellows are expected to attend the Clinical Congress of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons’ Accredited Education Institutes meetings during both fellowship years.
