RTAC
or a Regional Trauma Advisory Council is an organized group of health
care entities and other concerned individuals who have an interest in
organizing and improving trauma care within a specified region or the
State.
An
RTAC serves as a unifying foundation bringing together all local, county,
regional, state, federal, and other agencies for the purpose of planning
education, training and prevention activities to assure that exemplary
care is provided for people both pre- and post-injury.
In the State of Wisconsin there are seven regions. Each of these regions
are centered around a verified Level 1 or Level 2 hospital. The RTAC
boundary formation is also supported by existing referral patterns.
Just like referral patterns, RTAC boundaries are fluid. A community
may indeed be involved in two different RTAC's.
The
South Central Region held its first RTAC meeting in May of 2002. The
meeting was attended by approximately 100 people, ranging from hospital
directors to EMS directors. If you are interested in participating in
the next RTC meeting please continue to explore this site and email
