Project Summary

This three-year study aims to improve communication between surgeons and patients considering surgery, so patients can make treatment decisions that are right for them. Participants are people age 65 years or older* who are talking to a surgeon about treatment options.

This study was designed with the input of patients and family members like you. Learn about our Patient and Family Advisory Councils.

We aim to enroll a total of 480 patients, one family member per patient, and 40 surgeons in five U.S. cities: Madison, Wisconsin; Boston, Massachusetts; Newark, New Jersey; San Francisco, California; and Portland, Oregon.

*Patients enrolled at the Newark, New Jersey study site may be 60 years or older
