This three-year study aims to improve communication between surgeons and patients considering surgery, so patients can make treatment decisions that are right for them. Participants are people age 60 years or older who are talking to a surgeon about treatment options.

We aim to enroll a total of 480 patients and their families, plus 40 surgeons, in five U.S. cities: Madison, Wisconsin; Boston, Massachusetts; Newark, New Jersey; San Francisco, California; and Portland, Oregon.
