The Department of Surgery is proud to report Drs. Joshua Mezrich, Jon Odorico and Ann O’Rourke will receive 2014 UW Health Patient Experience Physician Champion Awards, granted each year to an elite group of doctors who exemplify UW Health’s goal to provide patient- and family-centered care. This year 34 recipients — the top 5.3% of all UW Health physicians — are being honored with the distinction. The awards are based on patient experience Avatar surveys, recognizing excellence in communication skills like empathy and patient support, among other factors.
The Division of Transplantation welcomes International Guest Scholar Mariano Norese, MD, a transplant surgeon from Buenos Aires, Argentina, for a four-week visit to the UW. The American College of Surgeons’ Guest Scholarship program enables young academic surgeons from around the world to tour surgical institutions in North America. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Norese.
Former Badger, NHL and Team USA hockey player Blake Geoffrion will join 12 other former Badger hockey players — many in the NHL — on June 27 for an alumni hockey game to benefit the UW Burn Team Advancement Fund. Russ Austin and Dr. Lee Faucher are working with the Burn Board to plan this inaugural event with great support from the UW Athletic Department. We anticipate the 2,000 available tickets will sell out quickly.
