Angela Gibson, MD, PhD
In 1998, Angela Gibson, MD, PhD, was a 22-year-old burn nurse at the UW Health Burn Center when a horrific bus fire left a young couple severely injured and in Dr. Gibson’s care. She was deeply affected by her experience with her patients and inspired by the work the burn surgeons performed to save the couple. That tragic incident prompted Dr. Gibson to go back to medical school to train to become a trauma and burn surgeon and surgical scientist.
Dr. Gibson joined the UW Department of Surgery as assistant professor in the Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery in August 2015. She conducts research in burn healing and new surgical treatments for burns.
