Girma Tefera, MD was featured in Sunday’s Wisconsin State Journal discussing his work with training Ethiopian health care providers. Dr. Tefera set up Ethiopia’s first emergency medicine residency in 2009, at Black Lion Hospital in Addis Ababa. Through Dr. Tefera’s program, funded by a U.S. grant to improve HIV/AIDS care overseas, doctors from Ethiopia have visited UW Hospital to learn how to treat traumas, heart attacks and other emergencies. UW Hospital doctors have traveled to Ethiopia to teach life support and first aid to medical staff at Black Lion Hospital.
