The UW Health Burn Center and Director Lee D Faucher, MD received a gift for $27,000 on November 15th in support of the Burn Unit Advancement Fund by the Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Safety.

In total, $47,000 was raised during the annual charity golf event held at Blackhawk Country Club in August 2013. The remaining gift provides support to the WAFS and their Summer Camp for Burn Injured Youth which brings burn injured youth together at Camp Timberlee in southern WI.

Established in 1974, the UW Health Burn Center is now a comprehensive burn care facility, providing care from the time of injury through discharge and rehabilitation.

WAFS and its members are fully dedicated to help build the Fund to further support the patients, research and quality care provided at the UW Health Burn Center and American Family Children’s Hospital. “The courage of juvenile burn survivors and the unit’s dedication to easing their suffering is beyond remarkable”, says Jim Hirsch, WAFS Director, Burn Unit Advancement Fund board member, and Chair of the annual charity golf invitational.
