A study from UW-Madison, highlighted on the cover of the recent Graves’ Disease and Thyroid Foundation, examines thyroidectomy as a treatment option for Graves’ disease. Rebecca S Sippel, MD, Associate Professor of Surgery and Chief of the Section of Endocrine Surgery, was the lead author on the study. Dr. Sippel suggest that the surgical removal of the thyroid is an effective and safe treatment for Graves’ disease.
