World Voice Day is a worldwide annual event devoted to the celebration of the phenomenon of voice. Actors, singers, teachers, laryngologists and others who believe “voice matters” have been celebrating World Voice Day each April 16 since 1998. The aim of World Voice Day is to demonstrate the enormous importance of the voice in our daily lives — as a tool of communication and as an application of a large number of sciences, such as physics, psychology, phonetics, art and biology. About 30% of the working population depend on their voices as a critical tool in their daily work.

The Division of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, part of the UW Department of Surgery, has organized a local event to celebrate World Voice Day. On Wednesday, April 16, Anthony Cao will offer a live vocal performance from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the 3rd Floor Atrium (G3/3) at UW Hospital and Clinics, 600 Highland Ave., in Madison, Wisconsin.

Anthony Cao is the director of choirs at Madison West High School, artistic director of Madison Chamber Choir and chorus master of Madison Opera. But Madisonians may know him best for his singing and piano playing in his weekly all-request show at The Ivory Room.
