Madison, Wisconsin – U.S. News & World Report magazine has named University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics the top hospital in Wisconsin for the second year in a row – and among the nation’s top 50 hospitals in nine medical specialties, an increase of two over last year.

The rankings, based on analysis of more than 4,800 US hospitals, are included in the 2013-2014 edition of the magazine’s Best Hospitals guide. Hospitals are ranked in 16 specialties to guide patients who need an especially high level of care.

UW Hospital and Clinics is nationally ranked in the following specialties:

  • Cancer (47)
  • Ear, Nose and Throat (27)
  • Gastroenterology (50)
  • Geriatrics (27)
  • Gynecology (50)
  • Nephrology (19)
  • Neurology and Neurosurgery (50)
  • Pulmonology (31)
  • Urology (34)

Only 147 hospitals made the US News national rankings in at least one category.
