Kate McConville, MA, CCC-SLP, a speech-language pathologist in the UW Health Voice & Swallow Clinics, joined WKOW’s Wake Up Wisconsin morning show to offer teachers tips for voice health. McConville advises teachers to avoid straining when they talk and to rest their voices whenever they have an opportunity. Additional tips include:

  • Amplify your voice with a microphone
  • Make sure your classroom is clean
  • Seek medical treatment if your voice becomes strained or hoarse
