Breast Surgery & Reconstruction

Breast Reconstruction

The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery offers full reconstructive services for women who have lost part or all of their breast due to cancer or other medical conditions. We offer a full range of reconstructive options from simple procedures such as breast implant or tissue expander placement to use of a patient’s own tissue to reconstruct the breast. Breast reconstruction may be performed any time after mastectomy, but best results are usually achieved with immediate reconstruction done at the same time as the mastectomy.

Our surgeon, Dr Rao, will help guide with your options and work together with your breast cancer team to help achieve the best outcome based on your overall medical condition, your body shape, and most importantly your desires.

If you would like additional information please check out the UW Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction procedures are typically performed for women with large breasts which cause neck, back, and shoulder pain as well as rashes underneath the breasts and other similar symptoms. There are different techniques to perform breast reduction and your surgeon will help guide you in making the choice that is most appropriate for you.
