Dr. Crisanta H. Ilagan is a general surgery resident. She was born in the Philippines and grew up in Vallejo, California. She attended UC Berkeley for her undergraduate studies where she double majored in Psychology and Molecular & Cell Biology. Dr. Ilagan held a career as a pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research manager for a global clinical research organization prior to going back to school to pursue medicine. She is committed to the recruitment and retention of minorities in higher education and is passionate about working with underserved communities. In the past, she has volunteered in medical missions in the Philippines, Ecuador, and Honduras. As a medical student, she was part of the TRIUMPH (TRaining in Urban Medicine and Public Health) program, which integrates clinical, community, personal and leadership skill development in Milwaukee, WI. She hopes to contribute to the efforts to address health disparities, particularly in surgical outcomes.

In her free time, she loves spending quality time with her huge family in California and her friends, traveling, listening to storytelling podcasts, and running outdoors. She enjoys dancing, cooking, baking, watching sports, especially soccer and basketball (Go Warriors!), and listening to all kinds of music, with a newfound love for vinyl records. She considers herself blessed and tries to find time to appreciate the simple joys of life, and she is still on the quest to find the life-changing magic of tidying up.
