UW Extended Quality Control Assessment ReportThe University of Wisconsin Extended Quality Control program (UWEQCP) has been created with the purpose of providing a level of sensitivity and objectivity beyond the current FDA standard measures of islet identity, purity, viability, sterility, and functional potency. Our goal is to provide information that is useful to researchers with the hope to contribute to the analyses of their results. We will attempt to provide a Certificate of Analysis for each preparation that is sent to different islet biologists across the country. The UWEQCP relates to the quality of islets at the time of shipment and is independent of changes that preparation may have experienced during shipment and transportation. A reference in terms of “normal values” is based on a retrospective analysis and comparison between different scores from islet preparations that have been able to normalize glycemia control in a NOD Scid mouse that have been rendered diabetic, and a score of preparations that have not been able to correct hyperglycemia. We hope that the data provided here will help to reduce the wide range of results that may influence the interpretation of data. |
