PROSTATE CANCER PATIENT DISCUSSES HIS EXPERIENCE ON UWCCC CLINICAL TRIAL

February 1, 2004

The Wisconsin State Journal featured an article on Jim Ramsey who is currently on a UWCCC prostate cancer clinical trial. Mr. Ramsey is able to participate in this study and receive treatment at Gunderson Lutheran in LaCrosse, 10 minutes from his home.

Gunderson Lutheran is part of a regional network called the Wisconsin Oncology Network that UWCCC has established to allow community institutions to participate our clinical trials.

Mr. Ramsey provides valuable insight about his cancer diagnosis, participation in a clinical study and his hope for the future. As part of the clinical trial, he receives docetaxel (Taxotere) weekly, a chemotherapy drug, along with vitamin D analog or placebo pill. Read his story here or in the Wisconsin State Journal.
