ICTR members from UW SMPH traveled to Addis Ababa University (AAU) in Ethiopia this spring to present a Clinical and Translational Research Workshop to medical fellows in the AAU Faculty of Medicine and Black Lion Hospital.

This outreach mission was funded by a Twinning Center grant from the American International Health Alliance, which UW-Madisonwas awarded in 2009. The UW effort, led by Girma Tefera, MD
and vice chair of the Division of Vascular Surgery, was designed to address professional development needs, as well as spur the research capacity of AAU by providing online clinical and translational research training materials, in-person large group instruction on the development of research protocols, and individualized mentoring for a select group of Emergency Medicine fellows.
