After a 2-year battle with ALS that left him unable to move and dependent on a ventilator, 44-year-old Dave Adox wished to be disconnected from life support and to donate his organs. But Adox and his family meet resistance from hospital lawyers. Transplant surgeon Joshua Mezrich, MD, contributed to a piece about Adox’s story.

“A Dying Man’s Wish To Donate His Organs Gets Complicated” aired on NPR’s Morning Edition on December 26, 2016.
