Archive: Dr. Nadine Connor named chair of the SMPH Animal Care and Use Committee

Nadine P Connor, PhD, Associate Professor in the Division of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery was recently selected as the Chair of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health Animal Care and Use Committee.

Dr. Connor’s duties include leading and managing meetings of the UW SMPH ACUC. The Chair performs fully as an appointed member of the ACUC by reviewing protocols, performing semiannual inspections of animal activity areas, participating in semiannual program reviews, and otherwise fulfilling the legal and ethical responsibilities required of ACUCs by federal regulations.

In addition, as Chair, Dr. Connor will perform pre- and post- meeting follow-up with principal investigators, authors correspondence to NIH Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) as needed, participates in campus-wide discussions and implementation of animal care and use policy through monthly All Campus Animal Planning and Advisory Committee (ACAPAC) meetings, and assists SMPH principal investigators with regulatory compliance and animal welfare issues.
