Archive: Dr. Petros Anagnostopoulos operates on infant with congenital heart defect

When Roy Proffit V was just four months old, he underwent cardiac surgery for a bicuspid aortic valve. Petros V. Anagnostopoulos, MD, Associate Professor and Chief of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery performed Roy’s procedure.

This was a big surgery for a small boy and his family, but the Proffits were able to take comfort in knowing their son was in good hands with the pediatric cardiothoracic team at American Family Children’s Hospital. For Roy’s condition, Dr. Anagnostopoulos removed the diseased part of the aorta and sewed the two parts together to make a fully functioning artery.

Although Roy may need future surgery as he grows, today is a happy and active baby boy. Click here to learn more about this amazing story.
