Archive: Head and neck surgeons introduce the da Vinci® robot for cancer treatment

Gregory K Hartig, MD, Professor of Surgery and director of the head and neck oncology program at UW Hospital and Clinics, recently appeared on an NBC-15 Your Health segment to discuss the use of the da Vinci® robot for treating some forms of head and neck cancer. The da Vinci® robot has been used by other surgical specialties, such as urology and cardiothoracic surgery, for several years but now head and neck surgeons are implementing the tool for its minimally invasive approach which reduces significant changes to the patient’s physical appearance and quality of life.
