Archive: TAVR under conscious sedation a first in Wisconsin

On October 27, 2014, a team led by Lucian Lozonschi, MD, associate professor in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Amish Raval, MD, associate professor in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, successfully performed a transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedure with a balloon expandable valve on a patient under conscious sedation rather than general anesthesia, a first in Wisconsin.
