Lucian Lozonschi, MD, was recently invited to present “Transcatheter mitral valve replacement: from Eureka to bench to market,” at the 13th Annual Meeting of the Euro-Asian Bridge Society for Cardiovascular Surgery, held in Romania. His presentation was given the Best Oral Presentation Award. Congratulations!
Angela Ingraham, MD, MS, was lead author, and Suresh K. Agarwal, Jr., MD, FACS, FCCM, FCCP, Hee Soo Jung, MD, Amy E. Liepert, MD, Ann P O’Rourke, MD, MPH, FACS, and John E. Scarborough, MD were co-authors, on “Patient-Centered Outcome Spectrum: An Evidence-based Framework to Aid in Shared Decision-making,” published in the Annals of Surgery on September 15th.
Congratulations to Sarah Schaefer, NP, who presented “Management of Thyroid and Adrenal Incidentalomas,” at a UW Health APP Grand Rounds presentation.
Lucian Lozonschi, MD, implanted the first HeartMate III LVAD last week at the VA. This was the first implant surgery done among the all VA hospitals in the United States after its FDA approval for commercial use. Congratulations to Dr. Lozonschi for his hard work making this care available for patients!
Marcus Ravnan, who served as a Cardiovascular Perfusionist for 27 years in the Division of Cardiovascular Surgery from 1953 to 1980, has passed away. We are thankful he shared his talents and compassion for patients with our department for so many years.
Endocrine surgery fellow Maria Bates, MD, was recognized for going above and beyond for patients, even on her wedding day! A patient said, “I appreciate her prompt response with my test results and an extra Thank You for answering her phone on the day of her wedding to consult with the radiologist for my testing. Super doctor and excellent customer service.” Congratulations on both your compassionate care and recent marriage, Dr. Bates!
The Virginia Cook Lee Foundation has gifted $60,000 in support of Dr. Luis Fernandez’s research. Dr. Fernandez has a long relationship with this family, who are inspired by his impactful transplantation research. Congratulations, Dr. Fernandez!
