Archive: World’s longest kidney transplant chain starts, ends at UW Hospital

On March 26, the world’s longest multi-hospital kidney chain ended at UW Hospital and Clinics when 77-year-old Mitzi Neyens of Wausau received her new kidney. The chain included 68 people (34 donors and 34 recipients), and transplantations took place at 26 hospitals nationwide. UW Hospital had a total of five participants in the chain, including the first and last recipients.
