We are closely following AAMC and UWSMPH guidelines for visiting rotations for this academic year. In the event that AAMC or UWSMPH recommends that visiting rotations should occur this academic year, we will follow their guidelines to ensure everyone’s safety.
Visiting medical students interested in completing a sub-internship with the Division of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery are encouraged, and generally occur between July and January of the senior year. These rotations are typically 4 weeks, and are competitively approved and arranged with Dr. Gregory Hartig.
Interested students should submit the following documents to Anna Peacock at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Current CV
- Personal Statement
- Available USMLE/COMLEX scores
Medical students who are underrepresented in surgery and interested in pursuing a career in Otolaryngology are encouraged to apply for the Underrepresented in Surgery Visiting Elective Scholarship. Applications received before June 1 are given priority.

Following approval from the Division of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery, the applicant will need to visit the Medical Student Electives website and complete in its entirety the process outlined. Upon completion of these criteria you will be allowed to formally apply and be approved to visit the School of Medicine and Public Health and Department of Surgery. (Until this process is complete, the elective as approved first by Dr. Hartig cannot be confirmed and “official”.)
We look forward to meeting and working with you.
Gregory K Hartig, MD
