Alumni of the high school program are able to return for an additional mentored summer research experience! The undergraduate program is a 9-week, independent internship. Participants will be paired with a faculty member and conduct clinical research. Students will have access to a curriculum designed to teach them the essentials of effective research and academic principles. At the completion of their experience, they will write and submit a first authored abstract to a regional or national meeting.
Eligibility
- Must have participated in the high school program
- Must have completed at least one semester at a college or university
- Must still be enrolled in a college or university for the following year
Program Details
- Commitment: full-time, 40hrs/week
- Schedule: Mon. – Fri., 8am-5pm
- Duration: 9 weeks
- Start and end date can be discussed with your mentor
- Housing is NOT provided at this time
- Outcomes
- Final research presentation at the Department of Surgery’s Research in Progress
- Submit a first-authored abstract for oral or poster presentation of my research to a regional or national meeting
