Andrea von Helms, MS, RD, CD
Andrea von Helms is a research dietitian at WiSOR with a background in obesity treatment, nutrition counseling, and nutrition education. Andrea graduated with Master’s of Science in Nutrition with a concentration in Nutrition Counseling from Mount Mary University in 2019. As a study interventionist in Corrine Voils, PhD research lab, she provides virtual nutrition education and counseling to individuals and groups. She encourages a realistic and attainable approach to nutrition so that anyone can achieve a healthy lifestyle and maintain it long term. Andrea has a profound sense of purpose to create a more just and humane world by supporting the discovery, development, and implementation of more equitable and effective care – particularly for those with struggle with obesity. Her research aims include understanding how to facilitate habit changes that yield weight loss and long-term weight loss maintenance. Prior to joining WiSOR, she worked with patient populations including adolescents, older adults, pregnant women, hospital employees, bariatric surgery candidates and patients, patients with diabetes, heart- and kidney-transplant, end-stage renal disease, and more.
