Thomas Diehl, MD, CM
General Surgery Resident
Tom Diehl is from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He obtained an undergraduate degree in French from Wheaton College in 2012 and completed medical school at McGill University in 2018. His main surgical interests are in global surgery, surgical oncology, and pediatric surgery.
After completing two years of general surgery residency, Tom joined WISOR on a surgical oncology T32 training grant. He will be working primarily with Dr. Corrine Voils and Dr. Dan Abbott on a randomized controlled trial studying the effects of a transitional care app called MobiMD on surgical readmission and resource utilization. During this time, he will complete courses in biostatistics and ethics through the UW Institute for Clinical and Translational Research. Tom is also interested in global surgery research and will be completing a Fogarty Fellowship in Kigali, Rwanda, where he aims to improve neonatal surgical care in low- and middle-income countries.
Outside of surgery, Tom enjoys downhill skiing, rowing, playing the piano/guitar, and hiking with his wife and dog.
