General Surgery Resident

Originally from central Minnesota, Dr. VanDerwerker now regards himself as a Wisconsinite and Packer’s fan. He is drawn to surgery for its ability to make an immediate impact on patients’ health and the opportunity to guide patients through every stage of their recovery. His clinical interests include rural surgery, trauma, and critical care. In his free time, Dr. VanDerwerker enjoys running, everything outdoors (especially backpacking and skiing), and spending time with family and friends.
