Health Services Research Specialist

Kaleem Ahmed is a research specialist in WiSOR with a background in quantitative methods, surgical outcomes research and machine learning. He completed his medical degree at the Aga Khan University in Pakistan and then went on to complete his Masters in Artificial Intelligence at Northwestern University in Chicago. During his medical training and graduate education, he has worked on multiple research projects focusing on surgical outcomes for pancreatic cancer, nerve transfer, and head and neck reconstruction. His current interests are in applying deep learning methodologies on clinical and genomic data to improve our understanding of the disparities in outcomes in surgical oncology in low- and middle-income countries. He is currently working in the Zafar lab on building a novel electronic health record-based multicenter pancreatic cancer registry.

In his free time, Kaleem can be found taking part in outdoor sports and grilling burgers with his friends and colleagues or reading a good fantasy fiction if the weather keeps him indoors!
