HLA Laboratory

The HLA Laboratory provides histocompatibility testing and clinical consultation for all solid organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplant programs at UW Health and performs all deceased donor HLA typing for UW Organ and Tissue Donation (UW OTD). The laboratory also provides testing for transfusion support and HLA-associated disease risk, drug hypersensitivity reaction risk, and vaccine eligibility assessment.

Services include:

• Low- and high-resolution HLA typing
• HLA antibody detection and identification
• Post-transplant antibody monitoring
• Consultative support for donor selection and management of high-risk transplants.

The laboratory is accredited by the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics.
