Gabriela Maica

General Surgery Resident

Dr. Maica is originally from New York City and is the daughter of immigrants from Peru and Ecuador. She was drawn to general surgery by its unique combination of technical excellence, teamwork, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact during some of her patients’ most challenging moments. Her professional interests include transplant surgery, surgical oncology, surgical education, and improving equitable access to surgical care through research and advocacy. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys hip-hop and salsa dancing, musical theatre, editing music, traveling, and cheering on the New York Yankees, Giants, and Knicks.
