Melanie Fritz, MD

General Surgery Resident

Melanie Fritz is an aspiring trauma and acute care surgeon, applying to fellowship in the spring of 2027. Her clinical and research interests include implementation science and quality improvement, serious illness communication, and the intersection of palliative care and surgery. During her two research years, she evaluated the implementation of a prognostic communication tool (Best Case/Worst Case-ICU) at eight high volume trauma intensive care units. She also completed the MacLean Center Clinical Ethics Fellowship at the University of Chicago. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys sewing, reading science fiction, or learning how to play ice hockey.
