Patrick T. Lee, MD, PhD
General Surgery Resident
Dr. Patrick Lee is a first year general surgery resident. He was born in Chicago and attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he majored in Molecular and Cellular Biology. He graduated in 2007 and came to the University of Wisconsin to begin his journey with the MD/PhD program. During his time as an student he was committed to serving as a mentor to underrepresented students in science and medicine. He is a member of the Bouchet Graduate Honor Society and has served as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Student National Medical Association during the organization’s 50th Anniversary. Patrick completed his PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2014 under the tutelage of Dr. Wan- Ju Li. His thesis was entitled, “TGF Beta-1 and BMP7 regulation of chondrogenesis in mesenchymal stem cells derived from embryonic stem cells.” His main surgical interests are in trauma and critical care.
In his free time, Patrick enjoys playing basketball, tennis and biking. He has also played piano and alto saxophone for many years.
