
Thank you for your interest in the University of Wisconsin Surgical Oncology Fellowship. Our program is only able to accept one fellow every other year. Applications will open in December 2027 for a position starting August 1, 2029 and going through July 31, 2031. Interviews for the position will take place in Spring 2028.
Applicants must submit applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Matching takes place through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria to be considered for a fellowship position:

- Graduate of a US or Canadian medical school accredited by the Liaison Committee for Medical Education (LCME)
- Graduate of a US college of osteopathic medicine accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
- Graduate of a medical school outside the US or Canada certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) and meet one of the following criteria:
- Have US citizenship
- Have a permanent legal residency status in the US (green card)
- Have or be eligible to hold a J-1 Clinical Visa sponsored by ECFMG
- Have an Employment Authorization Document (EAD)
- UW Health will not sponsor H-1 (temporary worker) nor accept the Optional Practical Training (OPT) visa, which does not relate to graduate medical education training
Applications are reviewed holistically by multiple faculty members.
