Members of the endocrine surgery division recently traveled to Kenya on a global health service trip. Faculty member Dr. Kristin Long and fellows Dr. Maria Bates and Dr. Allie McDow partnered with the nonprofit organization Kenya Relief to provide thyroid surgery to patients in rural Western Kenya. They were joined by two Kenyan surgical residents who learned about the procedure. This work is part of Dr. Long’s ongoing research in surgical capacity-building and global surgical education.
