Creating Immune System Tolerance for Transplanted Kidneys

Dixon Kaufman, MD, PhD

Dixon Kaufman, MD, PhD, transplant surgeon and medical director of the UW Health Transplant Center, recently talked with Channel 3000 News in Madison, WI, about the new approach he and his team developed that could make the immune system of a kidney transplant recipient more tolerant to the transplanted organ. Tested in a non-human primate model, this method could degrease organ rejection and reduce the need for lifelong immunosuppressive medications. Watch the Channel 3000 interview here.
