Dr. Muhammed Murtaza, Associate Professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology, was awarded a 2025 Vilas Faculty Mid-Career Investigator Award. This award will provide Dr. Murtaza with flexible research funding over the next three years.

The Vilas Faculty Mid-Career Investigator Award recognizes research and teaching excellence. This prestigious award is for UW-Madison faculty members who are approximately 10 to 20 years into their career. These awards for outstanding achievement are funded by the estate of professor, U.S. Senator, and UW Regent William F. Vilas (1840-1908).
