
John Stulak, MD, joins the Department of Surgery as a professor and Chair of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. In this position, Dr. Stulak will divide his time between clinical care, administrative/faculty development, and research/scholarly endeavors. In addition, he will be responsible for teaching medical students, residents, fellows and Advanced Practice Providers within the context of his clinical practice.

As the Chair for the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dr. Stulak will lead and direct the division by successfully overseeing the clinical services, research, training and educational mission. He will also be a key member of the Department of Surgery’s Senior Leadership Team.
Dr. Stulak previously worked at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for 14 years as consulting staff. He received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. Dr. Stulak completed his general and cardiac surgical training at the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education, and performed a fellowship in Cardiac Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support at the University of Michigan.
