The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) has awarded Michael L. Bentz, MD, Professor of Surgery, Pediatrics, and Neurosurgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, with a 2018 ASPS Honorary Citation Award.
Established in 1945, this award is presented to a senior ASPS member in recognition of their contributions to the specialty through clinical contributions, humanitarian actions enhancing the specialty, or demonstrated leadership.
ASPS President Dr. Jeff Janis introduces Dr. Bentz at the recent award ceremony.
Dr. Bentz is the Division Chair of Plastic Surgery. He holds the Layton Rikkers Endowed Chair of Surgical Leadership, and serves as Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Surgery. Dr. Bentz was also the Interim Surgery Department Chair from 2016-2018.
“Awards like this are not won by individuals alone. This one represents years of work and support from my UW faculty and resident colleagues, as well as that at home from my wife Kim and our three children,” said Dr. Bentz.
Dr. Bentz is a proven leader in the field of plastic surgery. He has served as Chair of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, President of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, President of the American Council of Academic Plastic Surgeons, President of the American Association of Pediatric Plastic Surgeons, and Chair of the Plastic Surgery Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, Dr. Bentz!
