On July 16, 2025, the Department of Surgery hosted an investiture ceremony to celebrate Dr. Angela Gibson, Associate Professor in the Division of Acute Care and Regional General Surgery and the Paul Davis Community Professor. Dr. Rebecca Minter, Chair of the Department of Surgery, began the ceremony with opening remarks and then presented Dr. Gibson with her medallion. The ceremony concluded with a presentation from Dr. Gibson titled “The Power of Many: Advancing Burn Care Through Teamwork.”

The Paul Davis Community Professorship was established by Paul Davis Restoration of South Central Wisconsin. The professorship supports a faculty member to focus on research, education, patient care, and any other initiatives that advance the mission of the UW Health Burn and Wound Center in the Department of Surgery.

Dr. Gibson is the Medical Director of the UW Health Wound Healing Services. She specializes in the surgical treatment of trauma, burns and surgical critical care. Her research interests focus on epithelial regeneration in burn injury, evaluation of skin substitutes, human skin model development for wound healing and understanding the burn wound microenvironment.

The Department of Surgery would like to thank the generous donors and friends that made this professorship possible.
