Welcome Dr. Alison Gareau to the Division of Transplantation

Alison J. Gareau, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Transplantation and the HLA Lab Director for the Division of Transplantation. Dr. Gareau’s primary responsibility as the HLA Lab Director is to provide overall direction, operation, and administration of the UW Health HLA Laboratory as well as provide clinical consultations. In addition, Dr. Gareau will be training learners and providing ongoing educational opportunities for staff and the Transplant Program.

Prior to joining the UW-Madison Department of Surgery, Dr. Gareau served as the Associate Director of the Immunogenetics Laboratory at the Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Gareau received her PhD in Pathology from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada where she studied chronic rejection in cardiac transplantation. She completed a Clinical Fellowship in the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Laboratory in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine in Calgary, Alberta. She is a Fellow of the American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics.
