Project Summary:

The Center for Global Health will partner with People to People and Ethiopian colleagues to strengthen the capacity of Addis Ababa University School of Medicine/Black Lion Hospital to provide quality emergency care, prevention and treatment for PLWHA. This partnership will contribute to the American Institutional Health Alliance‚Äôs HIV/AIDS Twinning program to support the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through partnerships and initiatives to combat HIV/AIDS. This partnership proposes to consolidate and expand our efforts to strengthen emergency medical services, HIV/AIDS care and treatment, and professional training and mentoring of staff at AAU/BLH.

Objective 1:Strengthen the human and organizational capacity of AAU SCHOOL Of Medicine/Black Lion Hospital to provide emergency medical services through improved organization of the emergency room and development of an emergency medical training center.

Objective 2: Develop a subspecialty of Emergency Medicine at AAU School of Medicine and to strengthen continuing education opportunities for faculty, staff, and other healthcare professionals.

Objective 3: Strengthen the coordination of healthcare services for people with HIV/AIDS at Black Lion Hospital to increase counseling, testing, adherence and retention in antiretroviral treatment programs.

Objective 4: Strengthen continuous Medical Education, develop distance learning, and clinical training program
