The Department of Surgery is pleased to welcome Dr. Alex Lacey as Assistant Professor in the Division of Acute Care and Regional General Surgery. Dr. Lacey’s clinical practice will be based primarily at University Hospital, where she will rotate among the Trauma, Emergency General Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, Burn, and Nutrition Support services.
Dr. Lacey’s research interests include the diagnosis and treatment of frostbite as well as the metabolism and nutritional support of burn patients, informed by her background as a registered dietician. She completed a BS in Dietetics and Nutritional Science and an MD at the University of Minnesota, followed by a residency in General Surgery at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN, and a Burn/Critical Care Fellowship at UCLA. As a Midwestern native, she’s excited to return here to build her career.
